Eyebrows are being raised on the Ministry’s decision on spending of Euro 108,000 towards lease cars.
However, justifications are provided by Economy Ministry spokesperson that spending money on lease cars are significant in saving than purchasing new cars. According to him, purchasing of new cars pose higher maintenance cost in long run. Further, he said that the Government spent the tax payer money of Euro 58,000 towards repairing of Prime Minister car during the last five years period.
The scope of lease agreement covers; the road license, tax and comprehensive insurance, VRT checks, repairs and routine maintenance and a replacement in case the vehicle breaks down.
However, it is appropriate to mention here that, Government officials are exempt from paying registration tax on new vehicles.
