Grassroots, a non-profit organization which started in Lafayette Square Mall in the year 2011 based on a lease agreement for a three year period with Lafayette Square Mall is about to vacate the place this June 2014.
Lafayette Square Mall is owned by Ashkenazy Acquisition Corp. It is understood that Grassroots made an agreement with Lafayette for a low leasing cost for a period of three years with condition that if a better paying tenant comes, they will vacate.
Grassroots, operating as Big Car Gallery in the Lafayette Square Mall, has organized many neighborhood programmes for the community development. The various programmes include art programmes and service project. The neighborhood community, which are being served by Big Car Gallery, are 38th Street and Lafayette Road to the Indianapolis community.
In coming May 2014, Big Car Gallery, along with Central Indiana Community Foundation, Christel DeHaan Family Foundation and the Efroymson Family Fund, the event partners Big Car, People for Urban Progress, Harrison Center for the Arts and IndyHub is organizing a 5×5 art event for a prize of $10,000 for competent artists.
Big Car Gallery is supported by International Marketplace Coalition group for finding a suitable alternate space for the future period.
